Yes. To receive the NE Eagle Scout Scholarship, applicants must have earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
The scholarship is for students who live in Nebraska or who live in Harrison, Mills or Pottawattamie county in Iowa.
Yes. The scholarship is open to students enrolling in college in the same year they graduate from high school, beginning with high school seniors graduating in Spring 2025.
Yes. Recipients must enroll as full-time students. "Full-time" status will be determined by the institution where the recipient is a student.
For students attending two-year institutions, the value of the scholarship is $6,000 ($3,000/year for up to two years).
For students attending four-year institutions, the value of the scholarship is $12,000 ($3,000/year for up to four years).
Recipients may transfer to a different institution and continue to receive the scholarship, given that the new institution is on the list of eligible institutions.
Students who transfer from a two-year institution to a four-year institution will be eligible for up to a total of $12,000 in scholarships, to include the amount of the NE Eagle Scout Scholarship received while at the two-year institution.
Students who transfer must notify the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation of their intent to transfer prior to making the change.
No. NE Eagle Scout Scholarship recipients may choose to study anything offered by their institutions.
NE Eagle Scout Scholarship recipients must maintain full-time status and remain in good academic standing, as defined by their institutions.
Upon providing the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation with proof of enrollment at an eligible institution, the Foundation will open a 529 college savings plan with the scholarship recipient listed as the beneficiary. The NE Eagle Scout Scholarship recipient will submit fund request forms to the Foundation to request disbursement of scholarship funds for Federal Qualified Higher Education Expenses (eg. Tuition and fees, room and board, books, etc.). Detailed instructions will be provided to scholarship recipients.
The NE Eagle Scout Scholarship may be used to pay for Federal Qualified Higher Education Expenses. Federal Qualified Higher Education Expenses include items such as tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment required for enrollment at an educational institution, and certain room and board expenses.
No. Unfortunately, the NE Eagle Scout Scholarship is for students graduating from high school in the Spring of 2025 or later.
